31 weeks!

After what happened yesterday, I feel extremely blessed to have this precious life growing inside me. On Friday, December 14, 2012, a gunman shot & killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. Twenty of the lives taken were small children, most of whom were only 6 years old. SIX YEARS OLD. I can't imagine being the parent of one of those innocent children. I hope I never outlive any of my children. Losing a child must be one of the worst things a person could ever experience in their lifetime. I pray for the families who lost their sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, etc. I hope they can find peace amidst all of the tragedy and pain, especially during this Christmas season. Today, I am thankful to have a healthy baby girl on the way and two precious nieces who will all sleep peacefully and safe tonight. Heaven has 26 new angels today. God rest their souls.

On a more positive note, we had a follow-up scan with our MFM this week. Blake Alexis currently weighs around 3 lbs 12 oz and is measuring just ahead of 31 weeks! Woohoo!

Blake Alexis Kirby Week 31 Update:

Your baby's the size of a pineapple! She's about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long and weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds this month. She's getting so big, she's probably crowding your lungs. Baby's going through major brain and nerve development these days. His irises now react to light, and all five senses are in working order. (He won't pick up anything from his nose until after birth, though -- smell is transferred through air, not amniotic fluid.)
